Intro to Digital Photography

*This is a for credit class. The Summer Geometry course is a six-week accelerated, extended-level program that covers a full year of geometry in a condensed timeframe. Topics include logic and reasoning, angle relationships, parallel and perpendicular lines, polygons, congruence, similarity, circles, right triangle trigonometry, volume, and area. Students will have a midterm and a final exam, and will receive a mid-semester progress report as well as an end-of-course transcript (pass/fail). GDS rising 9th graders taking the course for acceleration must earn at least an 80% on the final exam to pass. Non-GDS students needing a grade reported to their home school must submit a written request with any required forms by the first day of class. Students may not miss more than 3 days (or 9 hours) of class time. Class will not meet on June 19 or July 4. This course is intended for students who: -thoroughly enjoy math and actively engage with challenging concepts and problem-solving -met and exceeded the expectations of their Algebra 1 course Families who have questions about whether this course is the right fit are encouraged to reach out to their child’s Algebra teacher for guidance.

Calling on aspiring young authors! The morning portion of this program is designed to allow students to develop their skills as fiction writers. Through reading sample stories, campers will develop an understanding of the structure and story in fiction and compare the techniques of various authors. They will use their knowledge to plan for and create their own stories that will include a developed character, a problem and solution, dialogue and details. During the afternoon portion of the day students will have lunch and free time outdoors as well as participate in activities such as art, science experiments, simple cooking, games, etc.
